SYNOPSIS AND LESSONS
Mother Duck's last little duckling to hatch looked nothing like its siblings - or any of the other barnyard animals they know. Despite his mother's acceptance, the taunting from others and feelings that there is something more to who it is sent the ugly duckling on a journey of self-discovery. CPP's original adaptation used the classic Hans Christian Anderson tale of The Ugly Duckling as a springboard to explore and examine issues related to acceptance of one’s self and of others. Lessons encouraged students to: be proud of who they are and not try to be something they are not due to peer pressure; accept others as they are – even when they are different – and not tease, bully or reject those that are different; and more.
